Womboota is about 13 km from Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park, and it's worth building a day around the pottery studio and the Old School Winery and Meadery.
The pottery studio is on the corner of School Rd and Moira St, right next to the Old School Winery and Meadery, on the grounds of the old Womboota School.
It's a working studio, and a bowl or mug from there beats a fridge magnet as something to bring home.
The Old School Winery and Meadery began over two decades ago, when co-founder Frits Massee started fermenting mead from local honey at home. It's grown into one of Australia's first meaderies, still run by the family across two generations. At the cellar door you can try meads made from River Redgum, Yellow Box and Orange Blossom honey, alongside the wines. It's licensed for adults only, 18 and over, so bring ID for the cellar door.
Opening hours and tasting details change, so it's worth checking before you head over. If you're not sure of the opening hours or tasting details, ask at reception when you're at Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park.
