Fourteen steel trestles. That's what held the original weir together when it went in back in 1923. The remnants of that structure, plus its lock chamber, are preserved on site and listed as Historic Building No. 993. The current structure is a 1990s replacement, built between 1993 and 1996 after…
Torrumbarry Weir splits how the water gets used. Upstream of the weir is where the boating, water skiing and jet skiing happen. Downstream is the fishing side. The park boat ramp is on the downstream side and is included in your stay, and any craft can launch there: tinnies, ski boats and kayaks. There is also a public ramp nearby on the upstream side, off park grounds.
People fish here for Murray cod, golden perch (yellowbelly), redfin, silver perch and carp. The Murray cod closed season runs from September to November. You need a Victorian recreational fishing licence, and the park does not sell them, so buy one online or from a licensed agent before you arrive. There is no fish cleaning station at the park.
The park sits within Gunbower National Park on the Murray River, and kayakers, birdwatchers and walkers are among the guests who love it here. There are informal walking tracks around the park. For the bigger tracks in the area, most guests drive.
