Boating and water skiing
Upstream of the weir is where the boating, water skiing and jet skiing happen.
A family park on the weir
Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park works well for families with kids. It sits directly on the weir on the Murray River, inside Gunbower National Park, and the facilities are set up for children: a fenced pool, two playgrounds, two sandpits and an open grassed area beside the pool for footy and games.
The pool
One in-ground pool, fenced and gated, open over summer and closed through winter. It starts shallow and slopes to a deeper end, and it is used mainly by families and kids. It is not heated and not supervised, so children need an adult with them, and there is no pool furniture, water slide or splash park. It is a simple unheated pool, but the kids love it.
Playgrounds
Two small playgrounds with simple slides and swings on tanbark, plus two sandpits. One playground and a sandpit sit near the pool and the grassed area, close to the powered sites. They are not fenced and there is no shade over the equipment, so bring hats. There is no jumping pillow or games room.
Out on the water
Upstream of the weir is where the boating, water skiing and jet skiing happen. Downstream is the fishing side. The park boat ramp is on the downstream side and is included in your stay, and kayaks launch there too.
Where to stay
There are 12 powered and 13 unpowered sites, and 8 cabins across three ranges. Pets are welcome on the sites but not in the cabins. The camp kitchen has free barbecues, picnic tables and the drinking water refill station. The amenities blocks have a baby change area.
Good to know
School holidays, Easter and summer fill up, so book a couple of months ahead. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am. The tap water is river water and not for drinking, so bring bottles to fill at the camp kitchen.
